Kayak Options
Bring your own: Launch from North Shore or other access points Rent: 11 Mile Marina offers kayak, canoe, and SUP rentals
Morning Paddle Plan
8:30 AM: Pick up rentals or prepare personal boats 9:00 AM: Launch from calm water area 9:00–11:30 AM: Explore coves, shoreline, enjoy views 11:30 AM: Return boats, dry off
Safety Reminders
- Everyone wears PFDs
- Stay aware of wind conditions
- Morning is calmest—don’t push into afternoon
- Stay together as a group
- Watch for afternoon storm buildup
For Non-Paddlers
Not everyone has to kayak. Options:
- Shore fishing during paddle time
- Reading at day-use area
- Easy shoreline walk
- Photography from shore
Midday
Picnic Lunch
Pack a cooler lunch and eat at a day-use area near the water:
- Sandwiches made at camp
- Fresh fruit and snacks
- Cold drinks
Enjoy the view. Let the morning activity settle.
Rest Period
Standard rest period applies. Water activities are tiring at altitude.
Afternoon: Fishing Focus
After rest, afternoon fishing (post-storm if applicable):
- Try different spots than morning
- Evening bite often excellent
- Kids more successful with guidance
- Teens can try independence nearby
Evening Fishing Tips
- Fish move shallow as water cools
- Topwater can work at dusk
- Watch for rising fish
- Be patient—evening bite can be magic

Today marks the shift from acclimation to activity. Your body has adjusted enough for more exertion. But don’t overdo it—pace yourself through the week.
